30.9.17

From welcoming world leaders to Downing Street and travelling to Estonia, here's a recap of Theresa May's week.

On Monday, Theresa May welcomed the Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to Downing Street. The pair discuss the importance of devolved Government being restored to Northern Ireland as soon as possible and the UK Government’s steadfast commitment to the Belfast Agreement and its successors.

May wore a navy suit, teaming it with a white blouse and vintage multi colour Russell & Bromley kitten heels. The PM also debuted her new silver Balls necklace and bracelet from Mirta Bijoux- a recent purchase from her Italian holiday!

Bruton Decorative Antiques Fair 2017

25.9.17

Bruton 2017 filled up immediately with a blend of eager returning and new exhibitors and the show promises to be an exciting mix of C18th – C20th decorative antiques for the home and garden, architectural reclamation, humble English Folk Art – early pottery, samplers, walking canes, CMid furniture and accessories, lighting, textiles, grand painted furniture from local country houses, mirrors, dazzling jewels and even desirable vintage designer handbags.

The recent £6million extension to The Haynes International Motor Museum, with its spacious interior and extraordinary raspberry red futuristic facade, just outside Bruton and very hi viz from the adjacent A303, provides the perfect venue for this new firm fixture in the decorative fairs calendar.

On Saturday 14 October, BBC Antiques Roadshow expert and author Mark Hill will add some celebrity sparkle to the fair with his “Mark Hill Selects” tour – using his expert knowledge to inspire visitors with tips on using traditional and decorative antiques in the modern interior for a cool century mash-up! Mark will also be selecting some collectors’ pieces – he has an eye for obscure objects and visitors can look forward to a fun and engrossing event. Mark’s tour will be streamed live on social media from 1 pm.

The organisers have also teamed up with celebrated local restaurant Roth Bar & Grill for a competition to win a culturally enriching lunch with wine for two people.

Ottawa, New York and Florence: Theresa May's Week

24.9.17

From one continent to another, it's been a packed week of travel for Theresa May. The Prime Minister started her week in Ottawa, meeting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and businesses in Ontario.

For her meetings with Prime Minister Trudeau, Theresa May wore a custom navy jacket by Daniel Blake, navy skirt and the black suede Twiggy kitten heels from Russell & Bromley.

May also met with participants in the Invictus Games where she received a Canadian jersey from the Prime Minister.

Theresa May then headed to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, where she led a session on modern slavery and addressed delegates. Further details on the PM's outfits can be read in this earlier post.

The Prime Minister then headed back to the UK where she held a special Cabinet meeting on Thursday and on Friday, Theresa May delivered a speech on Brexit in Florence.

Debuting a new striped blazer from Piazza Sempione (available at Fluidity,) May teamed this item with flared, cropped olive trousers, the oversized Amanda Wakeley chain necklace and custom leopard Kitty heels from Charlotte Olympia.

Theresa May's Belgian Necklace

18.9.17

A few readers have been in touch to ask where Theresa May's circular necklace is from. Good news! I've identified the brand as Et Le Bijou Crea La Femme!

Based in Belgium, this circular horn necklace has been worn by Theresa May several times over the past few months. Composed of circular discs in brown, cream and ivory, the PM last wore the necklace on a visit to a bus and tram factory in August.

It was a week focused on Parliament and Prime Ministerial duties for Theresa May this week.

On Monday, Parliament held a debate on the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill that lasted into the small hours of the morning. We saw a brief glimpse of the Prime Minister- and for the eagle eyed among you, she was wearing a new suit! Black with white label detailing, we're on the hunt for the designer.

On Tuesday, Theresa May welcomed Chance to Shine to Downing Street to play cricket! The PM was presented with her own personalised jersey- and wore a navy and sky blue coat and trousers by Amanda Wakeley, oversized pearls and the leopard Frame flats from Russell & Bromley.

On Wednesday, May returned to the Commons for Prime Minister's Questions. In a strong despatch box performance, the PM wore a navy tweed jacket by DvF, navy skirt with exposed zipper by Rouland Mouret and a pair of leopard kitten heels from LK Bennett.

Later in the day, the PM hosted a reception marking the Jewish New Year at Downing Street. Wearing the same outfit, she accessorised with several Swarovski cuffs and the Balls necklace by Mirta Bijoux.

It was back to a familiar off duty look- jeans, white shirt and a grey blazer. And the shoes? The navy Cocktail flats from Russell & Bromley! Thanks to MaidenheadMum for the pictures.

Swatch Style with Theresa May

14.9.17

There was much excitement back in July when Theresa May was snapped wearing a Swatch to church in her home village of Sonning. Husband Philip even joined in the act, wearing a special Rio Olympic Games model!

Swatch is an iconic time-telling brand, and it was one of the first watches that I owned. The simple black strap version graces the wrists of many of the world's notable personas, almost making it a standard accessory for those with power and influence.

Theresa May's selection of a Swatch makes her a member of this club, and the Purple Power Swatch that she wore (and continues to wear) is a stylish choice. With a chronograph feature and 3 bar water resistance, it's a sturdy model- and the clashing purple and blue colour scheme is perfectly on trend. May's model is no longer available, but these models are equally as chic!
